
STAFF BIOGRAPHIES
Robert P. Marinello
Mr. Marinello earned a Bachelor of Science in Speech Pathology and Theater Arts from Fordham University in 1970 and a Master of Science in Speech Pathology from Teachers College, Columbia University in 1972. He holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, a NYS License and NYS Certification as Teacher of the Speech and Hearing Handicapped.
Before entering full time private practice, Mr. Marinello spent 17.5 years as a Teacher of Speech Improvement, Teacher Trainer and Speech, Language and Educational Evaluator for the NYC Department of Education. He also served as a consultant to the Mercy Home for Children, Young Adult Institute and Community Resources before entering full time private practice.
He has over 35 years experience treating children and adults who exhibit a myriad of speech, language, voice, hearing impairment (including cochlear implants), fluency and developmental disabilities (Autism/PDD). He is an expert diagnostician and clinician who ensures that all patients meet and exceed potential and expectations through a variety of therapeutic approaches. Mr. Marinello is an approved NYC Department of Education Provider for pre-schoolers (CPSE) and school age children (RSA/CSE).
Peter Rahanis
Mr. Rahanis received his Bachelor’s Degree from the State University of NY at New Paltz with a major in Communication Disorders and earned his Masters Degree in Speech Pathology from Worcester State College of Massachusetts. He holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA, a NYS License and NYS Certification as a Teacher of Speech and Hearing Handicapped. He is an active, part-time associate of Mr. Marinello’s practice with expertise in speech, language, voice, fluency and swallowing disorders. He is certified to provide Vital Stimulation therapy to improve swallowing for neurogenic swallowing disorders in children and adults. Mr. Rahanis is currently Manager of Speech-Language Pathology at Sea View Hospital and Rehabilitation Home with his focus on rehabilitation of speech, language, cognitive and swallow disorders following traumatic brain injury.
Mayya Teytel
Ms. Teytel earned her Bachelor's Degree at Brooklyn College and her Master's Degree at Long Island University where she was a President of the Speech- Hearing Honor Society. Mayya has extensive experience with Autistic Spectrum Disorders and ABA training, having worked at Eden II for two and one-half years. She also has extensive experience with all other pediatric and adult speech, language,and voice disorders.She is ASHA certified and holds both a NYS licence and NYS certification as "TSSH". She is bilingual in Russian and English.
Vicky Sorros
Ms. Sorros received her Bachelor’s Degree from Brooklyn College and her Masters from New York University.She will complete her Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) in October, 2005 under the supervision of Mr. Peter Rahanis to earn her Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA and her NYS license. She holds NYS Certification as Teacher of the Speech and Hearing Handicapped. Ms. Sorros displays clinical knowledge beyond her relative newness in the field.
